The Race for Value: The AI adoption race is largely over. The value race has begun.

AI adoption is no longer the biggest challenge facing the marketing industry. With 98% of CMOs already piloting or using AI, the conversation is shifting toward a more pressing question: where is the value? While AI is helping marketers move faster, increase productivity and expand their capabilities, those gains haven’t always translated into meaningful business impact. The next phase of transformation will depend on how effectively organizations turn these capabilities into better marketing and measurable results.

That shift requires organizations to pursue two opportunities simultaneously: raising the floor and lifting the ceiling. One is about strengthening the way marketing operates today; the other is about expanding what it can accomplish tomorrow. Together, they offer a path beyond incremental efficiency gains toward new opportunities for growth and differentiation.

As AI capabilities become more accessible, simply having the technology is unlikely to set organizations apart. The real differentiator will be how organizations combine connected data and intelligent systems with distinctly human strengths, from creativity and cultural understanding to strategic judgment. The opportunity isn’t simply to automate existing work, but to use AI to make room for more ambitious thinking, experimentation and innovation. The organizations that lead will be those that turn AI’s potential into meaningful business value.
